Job Summary and Qualifications

The Controller oversees the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department. Responsibilities include the month-end close of the facility’s general ledger and the preparation of the budget. In addition, the Controller ensures the hospital maintains compliance with HCA accounting policy guides and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 hospital key controls as defined by HCA Corporate. The Controller also maintains ongoing staff training and provides ongoing financial training for all non-financial managers.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will review capital purchases for compliance with the HCA Healthcare fixed asset accounting policy

  • You will prepare lease reviews and get approval for capital or operating leases in accordance with HCA Healthcare accounting for leases accounting policy guide

  • You will be responsible for the Joint Annual Report to submit to the THA and the State

  • You will ensure compliance with all HCA accounting policy guides

  • You will ensure statistical reporting compliance with all HCA QMIRS reporting guidelines

  • You will provide ongoing financial training for all non-financial managers

  • You will act as a liaison for the medical center with consolidated accounts payable

  • You will be responsible for preparing for and managing all internal and external financial audits

  • You will provide ongoing staff training

  • Your role performs annual job evaluations using the Performance Management Plan format

What qualifications you will need:

  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA designation preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a CFO in a small hospital or as a Controller in a medium to large hospital or equivalent

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, database software and other financial systems

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Medicare and third-party payer knowledge required
